Lee Lawrence personifies resilience, strength and positivity. At 11 years old Lee’s life changed forever. Now, Lee is using his own experiences to change the lives of others around him. We lately had the pleasure of speaking to Lee.
Lee’s award-winning book, ‘The Louder I Will Sing,’ is the story of his fight for justice for his mother Cherry Groce. Wrongfully shot by the police, paralysed for the rest of her life, Cherry was the catalyst for the 1985 Brixton riots.
Lee is disarmingly charming. His calm demeanour sometimes camouflages his straightforward approach that doesn’t sugar coat the horrific nature of his experience. His tone, language and sincerity hit home – our reaction said it all. Never avoid the facts, no matter how nasty and unpleasant they are.
